What are the times? 0800 to 1430 (2:30pm) June 27, 2020

Where is it: Annie Mae’s Coffee Shop and Cafe in Winnsboro Texas

What will happen? Class Itinerary:

  • 1/2 Hour of Texas Laws on Self Defense.
  • 1 Hour of Texas Rules for Carry of a Handgun.
  • 1.5 Hours of Safe Handgun Handling
  • 1 Hour of Safe Storage of a Handgun
  • 1 Hour of Non-Violent Dispute Resolution.

Written exam over the above…. about 30 minutes.

You may order drinks and food from the Coffee Shop to be consumed during the classroom training. Please bring some extra cash to support Annie Mae’s Coffee Shop and Cafe.

The class is FREE…….. but there is a catch….. see below.

If you want, you probably should complete the online applications before the class on the 27th. You may also complete the fingerprints before taking the class (See the Texas DPS Website for more info). This would certainly expedite the licensing process.

I print up training material for all students – so, if you would, please send me some information about who you are. Please send an email to firearms@scfh.net and tell me your name, phone number (or email) where I can reach you, and if you need to train with a handgun before taking the Range exam.

You do not need to take the Range Exam right way. You may wait up to 6 months to complete the Range exam. If you want extra training with a handgun and would like to complete the NRA Pistol Training Course…. Please let me know. If the weather is BAD, then we might wait a few days, weeks…. but we will get this done quickly – one way or another.

LTC Instructors are NOT Allowed to teach you how to shoot (it’s a liability issue). DPS requires that, if we teach you how to shoot, we must do it under a different Heading – i.e. NRA or other Nationally Recognized training program. I teach under the NRA. I love to teach people how to shoot… but I cannot do it with a Texas LTC Instructors certificate.

What is the cost???????

  • Classroom Training: FREE
  • Shooting Test : FREE
  • NRA Training: $100 for NRA Training manuals and Targets. (Not required if you are already competent with shooting a handgun. I give large discounts to Church Groups that want specialized training)
  • The LTC-100 Certificate: $40 (Not required unless you plan to file for the license.)
  • Fingerprints: $13 (I don’t do this, you get this done in Tyler or Pittsburg, TX)
  • Application Process: $40 for most people – Less for Military, Over 62, OR if you have a current CPR Certificate – .
  • Cost of ammunition is about $30/100 rounds – you supply your own.
  • This could cost you as much as $175 or as little as $53 based on age, military history, and need for extra training.

I would love to work with Churches for Security Training as well. This will take more time and require more training at a different date. Possibly at your church.

If all you want, is to sit through the class and go to the range and shoot, – then you don’t have to pay anything. If you want to apply for the license afterwards, it will cost you $40 to me (with some exceptions), $40 to DPS (Maybe), $13 to Fingerprinting.

Do you need to rent a handgun? I may be able to assist you for a small fee.
